Evoluce 47-inch HD multitouch display gets off-screen gesture control

Evoluce, the manufacturers of that mammoth 47-inch full HD touchscreen , are out of control! Apparently, they’ve decided that unlimited simultaneous touch inputs (and thus unlimited simultaneous phalanges) was not enough, so they’ve gone an’ added gesture support — up to half a meter from the device. Apparently this bad boy supports Windows 7, although if you want your interface du jour to put the “unlimited” in “multitouch” you’ll most likely have to roll your own.

Garmin nuvi 295W like a bolt from the blue, bearing email, camera and WiFi (video)

Ever heard of the Garmin nuvi 295W? Neither had we, until the GPS showed up spontaneously on Amazon. More Garminfone than PND , the device features the same 3.5-inch touchscreen, 3 megapixel camera and Garmin UI as its call-friendly counterpart, but without the front buttons, 3G data connection and subsidized price .

Archos 5 shown running Maemo, Android 2.0, but no Windows 3.11 yet (video)

With the Archos 5 we were shown that Android can be a legitimate media powerhouse. But, it’s tough for a player to be stuck with 1.6 while other devices have already broken in their 2.1 shoes. Fear not, as the device is showing to be generally receptive to tweaks, first being an install of Maemo that seemingly runs quite well but, with no WiFi support, is something of a non-starter at this point.

Sony’s Dash goes on sale, officially this time

Yeah, we spotted the Dash at Best Buy a few days ago, accidentally eating up shelf space, but we’ve finally hit that April 29th launch date and Sony has unleashed the non-tablet touchscreen device into the wild. The $199 unit, which is somewhat of a branded Chumby , sports a 7-inch screen, best-alarm-clock-you-ever-owned good looks, and access to streaming media from CBS, Netflix , Pandora, and more. If you can bottle your enthusiasm for just a bit longer we’ll have our own impressions of the device posted soon enough, but nobody’s stopping you from snapping this up from Sony’s website, your local Sony Style store, or whatever other retailer you might have in mind
